Never allow your candle to burn dry as this will cause the wick to come into contact with the metal wick stabiliser.  This may create a hot spot which could cause the glass to crack and shatter.  To prevent this we recommend you stop burning when there is at least 0.5cm of unmelted wax remaining in the bottom of your candle.  The wick stabiliser should not be visible.

Never place a burning candle in an unventilated or confined area as this may cause soot particles to form.

Natural soy candles burn differently to those made of paraffin.  Taking care with your first burn will ensure that you get the very best results from your candle.

When lighting your candle for the first time, allow the melted pool of wax to reach the edges of the glass.  This prevents the candle from tunnelling, or burning downwards on subsequent burns.  The initial burn may take and hour or two depending on the size of your candle.

It is important not to let your candle burn for more than three to four hours at a time as wicks become long and unstable.  This causes off-centre burning, larger flames and a poor fragrance quality.

You may wish to use a candle snuffer to close down the flame.  The lids that compliment some of our glasses also work as a snuffer but gently blowing out the candle works just as well.  After each burn, always trim the wick to about half a centimetre. You can purchase a wick trimmer, but using your thumb and finger to snap off the cool, used wick works just as well.
